A great view of comet NEOWISE last night from the Farm House kitchen deck at Apple Haus B&B. The comet is visible to the naked eye, but is even better with a pair of binoculars. Taking photos of the comet is quite easy, but a tripod is required. The big dipper easily seen in the upper left quarter of the image. A few short streaks in the sky are satellites. Airplanes have a different appearance with their flashing navigation lights. I see satellites often at Apple Haus. Space is not as empty as you might think, it's getting crowded up there.
This comet is amazing. The best one I have seen since Hale-Bopp in the mid-90's. Check it out when you have a chance, it will be moving higher in the sky as the days go on, but the moon will start to interfere with viewing. Be sure to go to a dark site to get a good night sky with very little light pollution. Skies at Apple Haus are excellent for viewing the stars, planets and moon.
